APAC Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) Category Manager Microsoft - Singapore



Job Description

Job Scope:

The Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB) Category Manager for the Xbox and Games for Windows businesses in Asia Pacific ("APAC") is a key leadership role for the Region.

The role spans the following geographies: Australia & New Zealand (ANZ), South East Asia (including Singapore) and Korea.

Job Purpose:

As the IEB Category Manager for the IEB business, you are expected to excel in the following:

Business & Strategic Leadership:

* Have a deep understanding of customer, partner, product, market and competitive dynamics

* Use this knowledge to provide business insight and build appropriate strategies to maximize IEB's market share, revenue, profit, and customer and partner satisfaction in the APAC region

* Proactively engage with Subsidiary and Asia Timezone Leadership to identify and capitalize on opportunities to help grow the revenue, share and profit in each subsidiary.

* Proactively lead annual strategic planning process, including IPR process, category, strategy & tactical plan development, priority setting and performance measurement and monitoring of subsidiaries.

* Build long term growth strategies for the IEB in the region. Be a virtual leader capable of gaining sponsorship from corporate and regional stakeholders and lead subsidiary personnel to execute against a broader strategic plan.

People Leadership:

* Build and develop a high performing subsidiary teams across APAC

* Coach and develop extended team to be virtual leaders within the organization

Effective representation and leadership with corporate and subsidiaries

* Be a virtual leader capable of leading and influencing senior stakeholders within Region, Subsidiaries and Asia Timezone to maximize business focus and performance.

* Represent the needs of the region to Asia Timezone to ensure appropriate resources, prioritization and funding of regional needs.

* Represent Corporate/Asia Timezone priorities to the region, and provide the necessary "filter" to ensure regional prioritization and subsidiary sales and marketing execution excellence.

Functional excellence

* Able to be a strategic leader across Xbox hardware and software. Be able to deeply understand, and lead others in, product line management, market analysis and insight, market development, business development, channel and distribution strategy and strategic leadership in building product category and brand.

* It is expected that the successful candidate will have at least three, and preferably four of the following:

- Relevant industry experience

- APAC region experience

- Proven leadership at a senior and strategic level

- Track record of outstanding results

- Demonstrated success in a matrixed organization

- Business Results: Revenue, Share and Profit of the Xbox business in APAC

- Key Initiatives: Continued rapid growth in established markets (such as Australia and New Zealand); large scale in growth markets (such as Korea); and new market expansion.

- Challenges and Opportunities: Expanding the Xbox offerings to encompass more than gaming

Position Scope

The position has Asia Pacific scope. It is further expected that the successful candidate will be capable of developing strategy that can be leveraged both within subsidiary teams and on a worldwide basis.

Decision Making

The position has broad scope to approve promotions and go to market plans. Decisions that materially affect the divisions P&L would need Asia Timezone /Corporate level approval.

Strategy & Development

The position is responsible for the business strategy in the region. Further, the position is responsible for providing business leadership to subsidiaries and corporate, and to coach, develop, mentor, measure and provide performance monitoring of subsidiary staff.

There are structured processes already established in the region. It is expected that the position would recommend and drive implementation of improvements to existing process, as well as develop new processes, performance measurement and monitoring.

People Management

The position will be a key interface for

- Subsidiaries to Asia Timezone and vice versa

- The Microsoft IEB business in the region to each of the subsidiary directors responsible for a sales territory

- Subsidiary marketing personal (this position should be seen as the "community leader")

- The APAC regional commercial leadership

- Corporate, Asia Timezone, regional and subsidiary finance and operations teams

Business Relationships:

Interface at senior levels with all of the above

Qualifications:

* 12+ years of relevant industry experience, and at least 3 years of senior leadership experience.

* Demonstrated capacity and proven success as a strategic business leader and manager of managers.
