Job description
The Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) regional Government Relations (GR) Director is responsible for directing and managing HP’s efforts to improve government relations, provide targeted, strategic, support to public sector sales teams and shape public policies in all key countries across the geography, including the major markets of Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, and South East Asia, and in all regional policy forums.

The Key Responsibilities Include

° In consultation with HP businesses, global functions, the Head of World Wide GR, and the country level GR managers, set and manage regional and country level public policy advocacy priorities.

° Identify critical country and regional level issues – both current and emerging - for HP sales and operations; develop and implement advocacy strategies to impact these issues favorably.

° Support and encourage HP senior executive involvement in government relations at national and regional levels by providing strategic counsel, guidance, tactics, and process assistance.

° Manage and direct the activities of the HP GA Managers across the APJ region.

° Manage HP’s involvement with trade associations, industry groups, NGOs and other appropriate channels to positively impact policy outcomes.

° Provide strategic direction to and oversight of HP’s contract lobbyists.

° Seek out opportunities for HP to engage government officials and raise HP’s positive profile as a public policy thought leader as well as a trusted IT solutions partner.

° Ensure all GA activities are conducted according to HP’s Standards of Business Conduct.

Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent, Advanced degree preferred

· Preference for applicants holding degrees in Political Science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other applicable field of study.

Experience

· 10-15 years related experience in the field of Government Relations/Public Affairs

· Profound Knowledge In Three Or More Areas

working with and managing virtual and international teams

Skills

· Exceptional communication skills - both written and oral

· Excellent presentation skills, ability to present complex proposals persuasively

· Fluent in English (oral and written)

· Fluency in other languages such as Chinese, Malay, Japanese, Taiwanese, etc.

· Strong analytical skills

· Attention to detail

· Good teamwork skills and an ability to lead, motivate and develop a diverse team

· Proficiency with standard office technology (computers, office equipment, etc.)

· Proficiency in desktop productivity tools including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
