Job Description:
The company is seeking a visionary leader who can combine Information Technology (IT) expertise with knowledge of the health care environment to lead transformational change in the way we accelerate business value realization by leveraging available and emerging platforms that personify enterprise architecture in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Warehousing, Big Data & Cloud Based Data Technologies. This role is represented as a core member of the IT Medical Devices Architecture Leadership Team.

The new Director must bring strong thought leadership around enterprise business intelligence/analytics architecture, design and strategy experience; Seek out opportunities for simplification, capability enablement and standardization of the IT solutions landscape, instituting best practices and lowering costs; In addition, with an eye towards improving business operations, he/she will focus on vendor contracts and negotiations with a charter to improve the way the organization operates. Finally, the ability to collaborate and influence other directors, executives and the team and develop a strong leadership pipeline is an important factor for success.

Specific Responsibilities

Director BI/Analytics Architecture for MDD&D - end-to-end global responsibility for creating and aligning BI/Analytics with strategic business intent and establishing the IT roadmap; Provides architecture direction and guidance; ensures alignment with Strategic Roadmaps, Enterprise Blueprints, and J&J Technology Standards; Drives consistency and quality of the Architecture artifacts (business process architecture, data architecture, etc.)

Establishes strategic roadmaps and governs key aspects of Solution implementation (e.g. analytics platforms, data models, identifying data sources, metadata) for all MDD Regions

Strongly influences the future direction of business solutions based on technology vision. Brings external benchmarks and inputs into decision making to keep the solution current/leading edge, thus contributing to the competitive value of MDD.

Advise senior management on the application of BI/Analytics technology within their business areas/regions

Represents MDD IT strategy in J&J-wide Architecture forums. Collaborate closely with other JNJ sector Architects to drive synergies and leverage solutions where applicable

Externally, drives technology roadmap of key vendor partners (e.g. Amazon) to maximize alignment and value to meet MDD needs.

Drive proof-of-concept and Industry benchmarking efforts to set strategic global reference architectures that enable new business capabilities.

Deeply influences at VP and CIO levels of the organization providing guidance and advice for strategic 3-5yr technology direction.

Engage with Project/Program teams to ensure SDLC deliverables meet or exceed SDLC

Mask the complexity of IT / Architecture processes through facilitation, partnerships, and focus on customer satisfaction; Engage business leaders of supported functions and strive to be viewed as an integral part of their stakeholder network; Meet or exceed customer requirements with respect to time, cost efficiency and business value

Qualifications

A minimum of 10+ years IT experience. Proven experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data.
Demonstrates expertise in design and development of Analytics, business intelligence (BI) and predictive models for data warehouse (DW) information management architecture, including:
Evaluating enterprise DW architecture feasibility, risk and technologies related to business change (i.e. assessing, identifying and recommending BI and related business stakeholders' data requirements; BI solution prototyping and development; processes and performance from business and technical standpoints; and the impact of data changes on business and/or IT processes);
Advising on emerging BI/DW technologies and strategies consistent with business strategies;
Prioritizing, preparing and implementing BI and/or DW architectural improvements (i.e. developing and recommending alternative DW technical and data management solutions, methodologies, strategies and architectural improvement plans);
Developing and validating business stakeholders' conceptual data models, including socializing and implementing logical and physical DW/data mart data models; identifying data sources and metadata (including business rules, definitions, attributes, etc.) to deliver analytic requirements.
Demonstrates experience with the various tools & frameworks of the Hadoop ecosystem (MapReduce, YARN, Pig, Hive, Hbase) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Neo4J).
Demonstrates experience with streaming and event processing technologies (Kafka, Flume, Storm, Spark) that support real-time analytics and actions.
Demonstrates experience with Cloud based data technologies (AWS RDS, Dynamo, Redshift, S3, EMR, Google BigTable, BigQuery, Dataflow) .
Demonstrates advanced abilities with current analytics applications/tools and an extensive understanding of data warehousing/mining, ETL, data cleansing and architecture, including: advanced abilities and success with programming and data mining; advanced abilities using data visualization tools such as Tableau or Qlikview;
Experience with data mining, machine learning, statistical modeling tools or underlying algorithms.
Additionally, a “big picture” mind set and the ability to always think beyond a single project, business domain, or operating company is required.
Proven ability to drive innovation, translate insights into solution that create value is required
Experience in developing strategies and roadmaps with IT architecture focus (e.g. technology blueprints, business process harmonization blueprints, systems integration maps, etc.) is required.
Proven ability to manage team within a matrixed structure is required. The ability to influence without direct authority is required.
Skilled in building strong cross-functional partnerships is required. Experience with leading multi-company teams and global efforts are preferred.
Demonstrated ability for a rapid understanding of business processes, and their technology implications is required.
Demonstrated ability to understand and articulate business requirements, direction, and initiatives from an enterprise-level perspective is required. Demonstrated ability to explain complex technology topics in easy-to-understand terms is required.
Demonstrated understanding and management of financial processes and results related to projects, departmental budgets, and enterprise is required.

This position will require up to 20% Domestic and/or International travel.
